A Guide To Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is an alternative medicine technique that makes use of essential oils, and other plant compounds that are aromatic. These oils are known to leave an favourable affect on the health and mood of human beings. These oils are cold-pressed or steam distilled from fruits, flowers, roots and bark. Aromatherapy is the art of using non-oily and volatile essence of plants for healing the mind and body. Essential oils have been used to heal the body, soothe the psyche and revive the skin tone for many years.

There is no doubt that there are perceivable benefits of aromatherapy but only if you use natural herbal aromatherapy products. It is important to use top quality ingredients and that to buy aromatherapy supplies from reputable sources.

Aromatherapy Massage Types

Oils are applied easily to the skin for a light, even glide and smooth workability. Pure cold-pressed oils are ideal for therapists looking for natural products.

Aromatherapy massage can be extremely relaxing when one is down with stress. Massage is a technique to apply the essential oils to right places on the body. This massage is quite easy and can be done by anyone.

The aromatherapy massage is carried out toward the heart, which is the natural flow of the body. If this massage is being given to children, use comforting and gentle movements. Most beneficial movement during aromatherapy massage is effleurage, which is a series of soothing, gentle strokes that enable essential oils to penetrate the pores of the skin. To spread the aromatherapy oil, make use of whole hand and not only the tips of the fingers. The strokes should vary between firm or gentle, and long or short. This will help in muscle relaxation, and nerve ending will be soothed. Right massage also help increase the blood circulation and relive stress.

Petrissage is the massage that imitates the movements of kneading dough gently. When using this technique for aromatherapy massage with essential oils, movement should be careful and slow. These movements are especially helpful in body parts with fat accumulation, and on backs. It helps increase the blood circulation, relax the muscles and release the toxins that get trapped in the body. Applying slight pressure with the thumb also helps.

Aromatherapy using essential oil can also be effectively employed for head massage. After putting oil on the scalp with the help of fingertips, use the finger to work all over the scalp. Massaging around base of the neck and moving upwards to the base of scalp is quite beneficial for people suffering from headaches and migraine.

It is possible to make the aromatherapy essential oils as per your own choice. This can be done by blending eucalyptus, rosemary, neroli, lavender, peppermint or nutmeg to the base oil. These aromatherapy oils can be added to the water while taking bath or diffusers can be used to dispense the oils into the air.

If aromatherapy massage is done properly and if spa is being taken, it can give great benefits by calming the stressed mind, and healing the physical discomfort. This massage is stress relieving and make the entire body very relaxed.

Alternative Health For You

Posted by admin in General

e are people who simply refuse to use any type of medication other than what they feel to be pure alternative health care. This means they want to use natural remedies or treatment such as colon cleanse as opposed to what is known otherwise as western medicine. Alternative is a tough word for some, because such practices are things/practise that were used long before any type of western medicine was already practiced. However, natural remedies are still considered alternative in United States because it is not mainstream.

A popluar form of alternative health treatment is acupuncture. This form of treatment has been used for centuries as a way to cure just about anything you can think of. Small needles are pierce into the body near pressure points and are meant to open and faciliate the flow of energy through the body. It is believed that the smooth flow of these energies are tightly couple with illness. Those that underwent alternative health will swear by the effectiveness. Some even use the treatment for things like quitting smoking and drinking.

Alternative health may also imply using natural herb to cure. But you need to be careful. Natural does not imply safe. If you are on any medication, talk to your doctor before going through any herbal treatment. This is because natural herbs can react with your medications. You do not want to take anything that could further harm you rather than helping you. Never stop taking medications without instruction from your doctor.

You can of course learn and practise natural health remedies on your own.But you do need to be aware of what you are doing. That means you have to find someone who is qualified in this field to guide you.  If you are treating your children or your family, you really want to be absolutely sure you know what you are doing. Alternative health practices can be very effective, but you still have to practise carefulness.

Several years ago, a cover story of The San Diego Union Tribune announced that rocket fuel was being found in milk. Yes, you did read that correctly, I did say rocket fuel. I was shocked and shared the information with a friend. My friend didn’t think this was a big deal, and honestly, I think I found that more astounding. Because, of course, people drink milk and therefore, they are putting rocket fuel into their bodies, sometimes several times each day. Well, you understand…

Later, I learned that this same person believed that the chlorine that municipalities put in the water was both not harmful to drink and was actually helpful in making us clean while bathing. At first I was sure that this was a joke, but I was assured it was not. Sometimes you just have to shake your head a little bit.

Unfortunately, though, I think it’s commonplace for people today to dramatically underestimate the damage caused to our bodies by putting such chemicals inside our bodies. And I believe it’s also common for people to underestimate and just not to be aware of all of the hidden and dangerous chemicals in what we consume, like in milk and far too many more commonly consumed items.

Unfortunately, our bodies aren’t designed to be able to handle all of these chemicals, so we don’t just effectively eliminate them - and we end up storing a lot of them. And the assertions that all of these chemicals are safe are comical. How would anyone know for an absolute fact that any of these chemicals are safe in the body?

Most of the chemicals that are common in the body haven’t been on the planet that long, so it would be absolutely impossible for any valid studies to have been done that look at the effects of time, accumulation, and the combination of the chemicals that you’re studying with other chemicals from other sources that are also trapped in the body. Or, for that matter, if all of these chemicals trapped in the body have any effects on the next generation. Or generations after that. It simply hasn’t been done, or has it?

At the same time that so many chemicals used in and on our bodies has increased, health problems in individuals have also increased astronomically. They’re rising so quickly you can almost watch it happen.  Not long ago, it was estimated that 30 percent of the population would have a problem with cancer. Now, it’s estimated that half of the population will have a problem with cancer.

In fact, you could look at our society as a whole, with the increase in both the number of common chemicals used in and on our bodies, and the dramatic rise in health problems and say conclusively: We’ve conducted one giant experiment, with the participation of an entire culture. Regrettably, we’ve found that without a doubt, the use and accumulation of unnatural chemicals in the body absolutely causes problems. Although often times, you don’t see the problems right away which is unfortunately why we didn’t make the connection sooner.

The only question left is: Do we want to keep up with this experiment? Or do we want to spend some time doing deep body cleansing with colon cleansing in order to remove these stored chemicals and toxins, while dramatically curtailing their use in general? Do we want to put an stop this experiment or do we want to just let people (and generations) keep getting sicker and sicker? It’s our choice: What will we decide?
